Finally Shut the Heat Off for the Year

I finally shut the Central Heat off for the year in my apartment, or so I hope. The weather is going to be above freezing (or within a few degrees of freezing) for the foreseeable future.

All I can say, is some much needed relief after this cold weather. I need my heating bills to go down so I have money to spend on gasoline for road trips. While it’s true I ended up spending a lot more on gasoline in summer than I ever do on natural gas heating in my dumpy old apartment in winter, it psychologically seems to balance out — and indeed the difference between the winter heating bill and summer electric bill is almost equal to one weekend a month being on the road.

Now I just need to get some good weather to go camping. I have things to this and next weekend, but I am really hoping we have nice weather for the weekend of April 12th.

Cold Wet, Late March Morning

Good Morning! A very cold and wet Friday morning, last one in March.

Glad I am not in the woods. The good news is it’s not snow. Not for a lack of trying by the weather gods, but because there simply is not enough cold left in the system to continue snowing. That said, I think they got snow in the mountains, and they might get some more this weekend.

It looks like I will end up working at least part of the weekend, but I don’t care that much as it’s going to be rainy. I kind of like working on weekends, because there is no traffic downtown, and things tend to be a lot quieter and generally nice on weekends. I am hoping the rainy weather will lead to improved conditions come later in April when I hope to be traveling and out  camping.
