Good Morning! Happy Tuesday.

It was a pretty quiet and uneventful weekend.Β I guess that’s how you could best describe it. It certainly wasn’t a get away weekend, with Saturday being pretty rainy. That said, I am looking forward to Memorial Day Weekend — today I probably will ask about trying to get off the Friday before Memorial Day Weekend.

Saturday Was Kind of Wet.Β It wasn’t a wash out, but it was wet and cloudy enough to kind of make Saturday just a day to make up some more maps, do some more blog tweaks, write some essays, and think some more about my summer plans. Β Later in evening, I went out to the store, then went for a walk around Crossgates Mall.

Been Looking at Lift Kits Again.Β  So it would seem. I think when I reach the 30,000 or so mile mark on the truck — or maybe sometime a little after that — once the tires start looking fairly worn, I think I will go for the 6″ lift kit and probably 35s. I could save a little money if I went with a smaller lift or kept the stock tires, but the thing is if your going to drop that kind of money, you might as well go big. After all, I spent like $30k on the truck, so what’s another $5k to jack it up at this point? (3k for lift and install, 1k for rims, 1k for tires).

If I do it, I probably will however skip the MT tires for AT tires, which usually hold up better and have a slightly less aggressive tire tread. $250 a tire, is more then enough for me. I won’t talk about MT prices. I could stick with the standard rims, but that would get me up less high, and would look kind of strange.

But’s its fun to dream especially when I have a good job — and probably by the fall, I will come to my senses. I probably should spend the money on getting a snowmobile or some other toy. Or I could be a good boy, and just save the money for some purpose in the future, yet to be decided on.

Found Out Why the Deep Cycle Isn’t Charging.Β I did get under the hood to find out why the deep cycle battery wasn’t charging. It has everything to do with the a melted AGU fuse holder. I think a wire connection vibrated loose or maybe water go in there, and that generated heat, which lead to fuse holder melting and the charge line ultimately failing. So it happens. I was hoping PepBoy’s would have one, based on the fact you could order one to be delivered to the store the next day.

Those dang fuse holders are such a pain with loose connections. They’ve never worked right since getting them. Then again, the whole system is kind of underwired in my opinion — I’m less then happy on the job they did — but then again, I’m not sure if I would have wanted to wire up my brand new truck.

I ordered one from Amazon, and I should have it by Thursday if all goes well. Then I can get things back together, and the deep cycled charged, so I can get up to Moose River Plains the following week on Thursday. I also need to replace the handles of my kayak. I know which ones I want to get, but I have delayed ordering them. I will do tonight, I guess.

Got Friday Off Before Memorial Day.Β Should be a fun weekend up at Moose River Plains. Planning to get out of town at 6 PM on Thursday, avoiding most of the traffic, and be up to Moose Plains on opening day, by 9 PM in the night. It will be dark by the time I get up there — probably around 8 PM to be exact, if things go well, but I have headlights, and I can set up camp fairly easily in the dark, especially with the electric camp lights. I’ve done it before.

Probably paddle around the on flow, and hike to Wakely Mountain. Classic stuff. And visit some of the ponds. And just hang out and do some reading. Probably leave around 12 noon on Memorial Day, and take NY 28 back home to NY 165, into the Mohawk Valley dairyland, then take NY 5 East. That’s a nice a trip.

Put $10 in My Truck. Unlike the Good Ol’ Days Doesn’t Put in Almost a Full Tank.

The otherΒ 4948441day, I was driving through Greenville, and my gas tank was a little low. I stopped at Cumberland Farms to get a little bit of gasoline to make it home — basically $10 of gas, or 2.7 gallons at the price of $3.61 a gallon. That literally put in about a 1/8th of a tankful — my Silverado pickup has a 26 gallon gas tank.

Back when I was in High School at Greenville Central School in 2001, you could get a gallon of gas for $1.10 cents. My first car, a Plymouth Sundance had a 14 gallon gas tank, and you could get almost a full tank for $10 back in 2001.

To think how much the world has changed since then. My truck certainly is a fair bit bigger then my first car, and gas prices are a lot higher. In some ways things are more fun now, and someways less. I guess the world has just changed.
